5.7.4 Entitlements for Care Leavers

1. Purpose of the Report

For SMT to be consulted with and accept the recommendations set out below regarding the foster carers guide and planned programme to train foster carers.


2. Background Detail

As part of the Ofsted inspection when the need to increase knowledge was identified regarding Looked After children’s rights a subsequent service improvement plan action was to devise a foster carer’s guide and training Programme.

Current position

This is the first guide and training programme.

Next Steps

If SMT agree sign off the training will go ahead. If amendments are to be made they will be brought back to SMT on 30.12.14 to ensure that the training timetable remains in place.

The attached guide and programme is in draft ready for SMT to view, be consulted and sign off ready for the training days planned in February/March 2015.

Agree sign off.
